Bruce & Alice cooked the lamb for a fundraising barn dance I organised for 125 people in October. The event was a huge success which the lamb played a large part in. All of the guests were commenting on how delicious it was & it was the perfect choice of food for the evening. Bruce & Alice provide such wonderful service & make things run very smoothly. Will definitely use them again in the future.
Our Wedding – Saturday 14 September 2019 – 10/10!
We can’t express how grateful we are to Bruce and Alice for providing such an excellent service from start to finish. The time they took to do an initial site visit to take us through everything was invaluable as we could plan everything properly and knew exactly what to communicate to our helpers. They were always quick to respond to our many questions and offered so much advice which really helped our day go so smoothly.
The little touches, such as sending us a photo of the lamb cooking on the morning of our wedding was so thoughtful and meant that we could relax knowing everything was going to be ready! Everything went exactly to time and the lamb itself was absolutely delicious, we had so many comments over how good it was – even from guests that don’t usually like lamb!
If you want lamb that is cooked so beautifully over an open fire and want to have two very reliable people doing it, then Alice and Bruce are your people! I can’t recommend them enough.

30th birthday party. Saturday 17th August 2019. Rating 10/10. We cannot rate Bruce and Alice highly enough. The lamb was absolutely delicious, they were totally professional in every way and were so charming from start to finish. They arrived on the day at the allotted time, set up and cooked the lamb to perfection, and then cleared up totally unobtrusively. All our guests commented on how delicious and tender it was, and we wouldn’t hesitate to use them for another party. Thank you so much, Bruce and Alice.
Saturday 29th June 2019 – Wedding – Rating 10/10
Thank you to Bruce and Alice for cooking such moist and succulent lamb for my son’s wedding last weekend on the hottest day of the year. The whole process was very professional from start to finish and the lamb was delicious with plenty to feed the c. 100 guests.

70th Birthday celebrations – Saturday October 13th.
A massive “thank you” top Bruce and Alice for producing the most delicious spit roast lamb for our party on Saturday. The service was terrific. The meat was cooked off-site, and brought to the event – “just in time”. The timing was superb – the lamb arrived hot to the table, and was enjoyed by everyone. Bruce and Alice have the production of this type of meal down to a fine art. They know exactly the time needed for every stage of the operation. Twins’ christening, September 2018. 10/10.
A huge thank you to Bruce and Alice for the phenomenal lamb we had to celebrate our twins’ christening. From start to finish the service was impeccable. The fact that the lamb was delivered ready cooked and carved together with rolls and mint sauce meant we didn’t need to worry about a thing. The meat was delicious and exceptionally tender – so much so that our 10 month old (largely toothless) twins were able to enjoy it on the day and for dinner the next day!! Would thoroughly recommend Butcherland Lamb Roasts to anyone planning an event.

So impressed. All the guests loved the food and commented on how the flavour of the lamb was simply stunning. No doubt a lot of that was down to 5+ hours cooking over burning wood logs, which I am glad I had the pleasure of seeing earlier in the day. Bruce and Alice were extremely polite, answered all my questions and made the journey on the Monday before to ensure both themselves and our venue were clear on what was happening on the day. Wedding
Thank you so much Bruce and Alice (Butcherland Lamb Roasts) for providing the most amazingly tasty and succulent lamb roast that we have ever tasted. All our guests were in agreement, about the quality of the food that you provided for our pre wedding party. We had such an amazing day which was made even more special with the double lamb roast to fill our stomachs. We couldn’t recommend your food enough, your efficiency and care to detail meant that we didn’t have any concerns about the service and the amount of food was just right.
Right from the planning, advise, emails and ongoing support to the quality of the food and service, we couldn’t thank you enough. We will definitely use your services again and will highly recommend you to friends and family.
Absolutely excellent in every way, I can not recommend Bruce and Alice and their beautiful lamb highly enough. They cooked 2 lambs for our wedding on the 25th August and the compliments were flowing – The feedback from our 170 guests was that the meat was of the highest quality and extremely delicious; we paired it with Greek-style salads and flatbreads and it was outstanding as was their customer service and can do approach. Excellent value and nothing was too much trouble. We recommend them without any hesitation 🙂

A huge thank you to Butcherland Lamb Roasts for their amazing service. From start to finish, nothing was a problem to Alice & Bruce and communication and timings were spot on.
Our son and daughter-in-law had chosen our garden for their wedding reception, and due to the size of the lawn and being fortunate enough to live locally to Alice & Bruce, we chose to have the lamb cooked & carved offsite, at their own premises and delivered to us in Chafing Dishes inside thermal bags. The lamb was beautifully tender and tasted delicious. It was a perfect solution to our problem of not having the space to have the lamb cooked on site and we would definitely use this option again if space were an issue.
Wedding Lamb Roast
We used Bruce and Alice to supply the lamb for our wedding breakfast. As we were at a hired venue Bruce cooked the lamb on his farm and brought it to the venue cooked and hot. His timings were spot on and you could not tell it had been cooked off site. Our guests were all very complimentary about the lamb and how tasty and succulent it was.
We also found our caterer who supplied the rest of the food and supplied the staff from Bruce’s website. They were also top quality.
We would highly recommend Bruce and Alice. 10/10.

Bruce and Alice did an amazing job. They were very helpful with the organising, coming round to the house to discuss all the details beforehand which was very reassuring. Bruce cooked a lamb for my 40th birthday party. We didn’t actually have the lamb cooked on site, we took advantage of their off-site cooking facility whereby they cooked it at their home and then delivered the meat to us ready carved and in a serving dish. The food was delicious and really generously portioned – so many people commented on how tasty it was and it was such an easy way of feeding so many people. Thanks so much for helping to make it such a fantastic evening.

Bruce and Alice did the lamb roast for my daughter Kirsty and son-in-law Murrays wedding and I am not a lamb fan, I find it fatty & strong in flavour and Bruce said he would convert me to a ‘lamby’, I was sceptical about it. True to his word he did a ‘special’bowl of the best meat for me and I absolutely loved it, it wasn’t at all fatty and it melted in my mouth. Everyone was commenting about how delicious it tasted. Bruce and Alice did a great job in cooking a lamb for my husband and son’s birthday for around 55 people. They were friendly and chatted to our guests who wanted to see the lamb cooking. The meat was ready and carved exactly on time and they cleared up efficiently. The lamb was delicious with plenty to go round, including second, third and fourth helpings! Thanks for all your help.

We asked Bruce to roast two lambs for our company fun day which we held at Cowdray. Brilliant service and great lamb for 80 plus guests. We like to support local business where we can, and this was a great choice. From first contact it was clear that detail was important. I met Bruce at the venue to ensure that it was suitable and we were aware of what was required. I met him at 6am on the day and it all went from there.
The day was made by great weather, but most of all by great lamb. Will definately recommend Butcherland Lamb Roasts. Thanks Bruce & Alice

The lamb roast was a huge hit with all the guests, thank you so much! As the party-giver, I found that Bruce and Alice were a delight to work with. I had complete confidence in all aspects of their service from the pre-event meeting (covering safety, hygiene and all practicalities) to serving the lamb beautifully and on time and leaving everything immaculate, even down to filling our fire pit with burning embers from the spit roast’s fire. They are consummate professionals and, thanks to them, we have a new family tradition!

Having had Hog Roasts before, we thought it would be nice to try lamb and found Bruce and Alice’s website (Butcherland Lamb Roasts). We loved the idea of the open fire rather than the ‘steel casket’ and everyone being able to see the lamb cooking. We were not disappointed. Bruce went through everything on the phone and came over the week before with the wood and to survey the garden. On the day it all went very well and lots of our friends commented on the taste of the meat and the novelty of the cooking. There was enough for seconds and every scrap went. Finally, Bruce and Alice cleared their equipment very discreetly. Thoroughly recommended!
50th wedding anniversary.
Well not a lot that can put taste into words. This is the second time our family have used Bruce and Alice (Butcherland Lamb Roasts) and once again the lamb was outstanding delicious. All the guests commented on it and needless to say there wasn’t any left. The venue was in a Church Hall for our 50th Wedding Anniversary, with no ability to cook onsite, so Bruce and Alice actually cooked it, sliced and delivered to us from several miles away, as if it was fresh from their spit roast. Not sure how they managed it! They delivered it in wonderful trays with burners underneath which they set up on the table provided, and came back later to check all had been fine. As I said previously, you can’t put taste in to words, so I’ll just say Thank you so much Bruce and Alice. It was enjoyed by everyone.

Thanks so much for the wonderful lamb at my husband’s 50th birthday party, it certainly made catering for a large group a manageable task. From visiting the garden to discuss where the best place would be for setting up the spit roast, through to carving up the lamb ready for eating Bruce and Alice were very helpful and professional. The lamb itself was delicious, very succulent and almost without any fat which was remarkable, several of our 50 guests had second helpings and there was just enough left over for an easy Sunday supper the next day. We would definitely book you again – but not too soon, as we’re still recovering from this party!

Bruce and Alice provided the memorable spectacle of a spit roast lamb at our wedding celebration. The entire service was executed faultlessly, it proved a great talking point on the day until it was cooked and served, at which point everybody went quiet!

40th birthday party
Well we are still recovering from a fabulous 40th party for approx 100 guests in our garden! So many people commented on how succulent and tasty the lamb was and they have been persuading us to have a mini music festival next year so we will definitely be calling on your services again! Birthday celebration.
I had a fantastic lamb roast for my birthday function in June. All my guests really enjoyed it and by the end there was nothing left! The lamb was cooked beautifully and was so tasty. Everyone really enjoyed watching the lamb be spit roasted.
Bruce and his team were very professional throughout. I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone looking to cater for an event.
Garden Party for School Parents & Teenagers

I would highly recommend Bruce and Alice for any event. The lamb on the day was delicious and provided a wonderful focal point for our party. But even better was the friendly, professional and thorough service that we received. Bruce made two visits to us to check out the site, confirm all details and deliver the wood prior to the day. His attention to detail and flexibility was much appreciated – nothing was too much trouble and he was keen to make sure that the garden wasn’t damaged by the fire and that the guests had the best experience possible.
The lamb was so popular that most guests had second helpings (sadly none left at the end for us to enjoy the next day!) Thank you both for the excellent catering and professional service you offer. Highly recommended!

Bruce and Alice provided a really professional service. We had a class party for about 50 adults and everything went really smoothly. The meat was absolutely delicious, and Bruce was very helpful about arranging where he was going to set up and carve etc. Would definitely recommend using them again.

2500th Rally for the West Surrey Caravan Centre.
Alice and Bruce, what a fantastic show you put on for us, two Lambs at once to help us Celebrate. Catering for some 160 odd people the Roast was ready on time specified and was carved to perfection. The Lambs were of the highest quality and the taste was off the scale, much better than a leg bought from the local butcher. There was seconds and none was wasted. After worrying about catering for lots of people at my husband’s surprise 40th. I decided I would enjoy the party too and booked Bruce to do a spit roast lamb at short notice. We had a great party and I was able to enjoy it without worrying about food. Bruce took care of everything and the lamb was cooked to perfection. Everyone commented on how great the lamb tasted. Centenary celebration.
Bruce and Alice roasted a lamb for us to celebrate my father’s centenary in August 2015. They were extremely professional before the event, making an initial site visit to check the garden was suitable and then returning to deliver the firewood the week of the party. On the day they arrived early but did not disturb us, they carved and served the lamb at exactly the prearranged time and then cleared up and left our garden spotless (except for a scar on the lawn, which has now completely disappeared!) Bruce and Alice went out of their way to fit into our plans and they were a charming team to work with. I would recommend them highly.

Dear Bruce and Alice
As promised a belated review on the fabulous “Meschoui” which you organised for Chantal’s wedding last month.
Now that she is back from her honeymoon, we have had a chance to catch up and revisit her special day which was just fantastic and magical in every way apart from the catering … In fact it would have been a complete disaster had it not been for your superb lamb which completely save the day ! It was succulent, cooked to perfection and had this lovely and distinctive flavour of a true “Braai”, much praised by all our guests including all the South African contingent.
As mentioned before, the catering caused us endless grief from start to finish but, equally, had we not been forced to search further afield (more than 80 miles), we would not have discovered Butcherland. Having already lost two caterers in succession as well as the Spit Roast Man, it was such a relief when you both came so promptly to the rescue and gave us a much needed boost of renewed confidence with your very calm and self assured professional approach.
With our renewed thanks for an outstanding and faultless service which carries our full recommendation and very grateful appreciation.
